Skin Care - 3 Basic Skin Care Needs

Most people care about having great skin. Great skin shows others that you take care of yourself, and that you care about your body and your appearance. Having good skin is an important thing to have, but it has to be maintained. There are several things that you can do to help keep your skin looking naturally healthy, beautiful, and radiant.

Good skin is powered by 3 elements: Cleansing, Moisturizing, and UV Protection.

\"skin Care\"

Cleansing your skin helps to remove dirt, grime, and excess oil or chemicals. There are a few types of cleansers you can use. Bar soaps are great for removing dirt and grime, but can sometimes be abrasive and harmful to your skin. Liquid cleansers aren't as harsh as bar soaps, and can vary in their effectiveness.

By moisturizing, you prevent cracked, thick, or flaky skin. It will strengthen the skin's natural ingredients, decrease the amount of skin damage and prevent "free-radicals" from entering the skin cells, and help the cells function normally. When choosing a moisturizer, make sure to choose one that best suits the needs of your skin. A moisturizer intended for dry or red skin may not be the best for those with oily skin. If you have a fair complexion, a moisturizer with sunscreen may be in order.

Sunscreen is important on its own as well. UV rays can be harmful to you whether you are out in the sun or in a tanning salon. It can cause permanent damage to your skin and cause wrinkled withered skin that is frankly not very attractive. Depending on how your skin reacts to the sun will depend on the level of UV protection that you may require. While many people like to have a nice golden-brown tone to their skin, it isn't always the healthiest. You may want to try alternative ways of darkening your skin either with bronzers or creams.

By following these three methods of skin care, you can ensure that you will be on your way to a healthier looking complexion in no time!

Vitamins For Dry Skin

Dry skin can be caused by a variety of factors. For people suffering from dry skin that has been inherited, there is no permanent solution except to take care of the skin with creams and lotions to avoid aggravating the condition.

Dry skin is also caused by old age. The body then cannot produce sufficient amount of oils and fluids as required. The oily layer on the skin then tends to become dry and often scaly.

Skin

Dry skin can also be caused by extreme climate and improper diet. Also, the amount of water intake is proportional to the fluid being retained in the body. All these lead to loss of requisite vitamins from the body.

The skin tends to look dry if Vitamin A and Vitamin B are deficient. Leafy vegetables, fish, and other foods can help in replenishing these vitamins in the body. Juices from citrus fruits can also be of a lot of help in this process.

Dry skin tends to look dull due to lack of Vitamin E in the skin. This can be taken care of by using the lotions that are rich in vitamin E. This produces a glowing and healthy skin.

Olive oil and almond oil are very rich in Vitamin E. Regular massage with these oils can prove to be very beneficial. Olive bath oil can also be applied on the wet skin right after bath, and the excess blotted out with tissue. This helps block the moisture from escaping soon after the bath and provides a soft and smooth skin.

Skin Care Tips for Black Men

Pseudofolliculitis barbae, more known to us brothas as, "razor bumps", arise on the faces of men with coarse, wiry, curly hair. Around fifty and eighty percent of Black men live with the issue of ingrown hairs and razor bumps, every day.

Razor bumps appear when beard hairs, more often around the neck area, curl as they grow and burrow into the skin adjacent to the hair follicle. Shaving sharpens the hair ends, making it easier for them to penetrate the skin.

Skincare

Razor bumps itch, burn, can cause scarring, and make shaving virtually impossible. Many Black men have resorted to depilatory creams which seem to work a great deal better than blades. But, some depilatories, if not used correctly, may irritate the skin.

Some creams are able to help for some time, but sooner or later side effects for long term use catch up.

How Ingrown hairs begin

Both sexes suffer from ingrown hairs. But men tend to undergo the most because of the coarseness, or thickness of the hair follicles on the face and neck. Ingrown hairs build after the hair has been cut or otherwise removed below the skin surface. As your hair grows, it curls over inside the follicle and doesn't make it to the surface. The result is an unsightly, "bump" on the skin.

A few razor bumps moreover form when a growing hair exits the follicle and bends back towards the skin surface. When these sharp, shaved edges of coarse hair reach the skin surface, they burrow back into the skin producing puffy, pimple like bumps to appear.

Solving Ingrown Hairs

A good number of men have found that the only solution to the dilema is tweezers. Most of us know it isn't the best sensation, but african american men haven't found a better solution.

Below are 8 shaving tips that may help ease some of the pain and more importantly, save your face:

Using a shaving lotion after shaving should lessen the appearance of redness. This goes for the ladies too. You can use this technique for legs, bikini lines and underarms.

Be sure to always use a clean blade when shaving with a razor. This can be properly achieved by only using new blades and throwing away ones that have been previously used three or more times.

For those of you who use electric shavers, remember to replace the rotary blades or foil after a couple of months. Of course if you're required to shave daily, you may have to replace them sooner. This can be a headache since many rotary blade components are priced more than half of what the whole razor is worth.

While shaving with a handheld razor, always shave in the direction of hair growth. The majority of men's face hair slant downward, so be sure to shave in that direction. This is also critical around the neck areas since shaving against the grain is one of the main causes of pointy, sharp hairs that can burrow back into the skin.

Never stretch your skin while shaving. Pulling your cheeks, chin or neck while shaving in order to get a closer shave, may cause darkness and discoloration of underlying skin tissue. This is very true for light and fair-skinned Black men who have dark, coarse hair.

Watch what you eat. Many skin irritations may subside if certain foods are avoided. Fatty foods, foods containing oils, cholesterol and sodium, can make your skin more propense to damage when shaving.

Depilatories got the work done fast, but its not a dream come true. Like razors, it can leave you redness and some irritation. Remember never to use an alcohol based cream after using a depilatory. Unless you want to feel like your face is on fire.

Grow a beard. This may not be the right solution for those required to shave daily, such as the military and other business professions. But if you can handle this style, go for it! You will totally eliminate the razor bump worries and ingrown hair issues. Even better, you can get rid of those sharp blades!

Skin Care - Why Does Steam Bathing Help Your Skin?

Steam rooms are known for their skin care benefits. People who use them regularly probably realize that there aren't many things better for your skin than a good ole' heavy sweat.

To understand how a steam room benefits your skin, it helps to have an idea what happens to your body during a steam bath...

Skin Care Secret

Boy, It Sure Is Hot In Here!

From the moment you step inside a steam room, your built-in cooling system starts to kick into overdrive. Two of the many reactions that occur are an increase in...

1. blood circulation and

2. sweat production

Your body maintains a certain temperature commonly referred to as its basal body temperature (normally 98.6 F).

When you start taking a steam bath, your body increases sweat production to regulate its temperature.

At first, your body is able to fight off the heat by increasing circulation and sweating, but...

When your body is no longer able to dissipate the heat, your body temperature starts to rise. Blood is then forcefully shunted toward the surface of your skin and sweating increases.

This is where the skin care benefits kick in...

Clean out those pores!

While a shower rinses dirt off your body's surface, the heavy sweating in a steam room rinses out your pores. This removes dead skin and impurities and leaves your skin feeling squeaky clean and silky smooth!

A plain old shower or bath just doesn't compare.

More blood, please!

The increase in blood circulation brings more oxygen and nutrients to your skin surface. One way this benefits your skin is by enhancing collagen reproduction.

Collagen is partly responsible for your skin's strength and elasticity.

In summary...

You can see how taking steam baths regularly will most likely improve your skin complexion and the way it feels. Heavy sweating combined with the increase in blood circulation is why steam rooms are good for skin care.

The Real Secret To Treating Rosacea

Rosacea is a patchy flushing of the face accompanied by inflammation and other symptoms. It afflicts over 45 million individuals around the world.

The most commonly affected areas are the nose, cheeks, forehead, but has also been known to reach the ears, neck, scalp, and chest.

Skin Care Secret

The first signs of rosacea include prolonged redness from exercise, temperature changes, and skin cleansing routines. As it progresses, the following conditions may develop...

· permanent redness

· enlarged blood vessels (appearing as tiny red lines)

· puffy cheeks

· pimples or red bumps (at times with pus)

· conjunctivitis (grittiness and burning of the eyes)

· rhinophyma (enlarged, bulbous, red nose)

Conjunctivitis, if not treated, can damage the cornea and impair vision. Rhinophyma, on the other hand, also called the W.C. Fields nose (after the famous comedian), may require surgery.

Rosacea should not be confused with the more common acne vulgaris or seborrheic dermatitis. However, unlike more common acne, rosacea has no blackheads or whiteheads (although rosacea and vulgaris can coexist in some people).

Who Gets Rosacea?

Unlike more common acne that affects mostly teenagers, rosacea typically afflicts people between ages 30 and 50. Although it is more frequent in women (especially middle-aged and menopausal), it affects men more severely. Fair-skinned individuals are also more likely to suffer from rosacea.

Is It Hereditary?

Medical experts differ in opinion. Those who claim it is hereditary point out that fair-skinned people of Celtic or European ancestry are more genetically predisposed to developing rosacea -- giving the medical condition a genetic or hereditary component.

On the other hand, the dissenters point out that rosacea is not an inherited, genetic condition simply because, if it were, it would begin at an early age. Instead, sufferers accumulate acids from years of food, drink, sun damage, poor rosacea and acne cure products, etc., all of which lead to the advancement of the condition.

The exact cause, however, is still unknown. But most experts agree that it is a blood vessel disorder where damage is caused by repeated dilation.

Little Known Rosacea Treatment

One of the most promising rosacea treatments in years is topical niacinamide. Topical niacinamide has been shown in scientific studies to have anti-inflammatory and skin barrier improvement properties (which leads to diminished reaction to irritants such as detergents). Research at the State University of New York College of Medicine has proven that topical niacinamide reduces inflammation and redness. Furthermore, it does not cause the bacterial resistance associated with antibiotics that some other medications carry.

Acnessential (a 4% Niacinamide cream) is a safe topical niacinamide that not only heals inflammation and redness, but also reduces the production of sebum that may lead to the infected bumps associated with rosacea.

Using Castor Oil for Acne - A Natural Skin Care Discovery

Can using castor oil for acne treating skin care products really clear up your skin? Believe it or not, the answer is absolutely yes! This natural oil has wonderful moisturizing and healing properties that few can match.

OK, so you understand the healing properties part, but why exactly would keeping your skin moisturized help your acne? After all, doesn't moisture clog pores and cause immediate break outs in the first place? In reality this is a very common fallacy that many have wrongfully accepted... including me at one time.

Skin Care Secret

For years I tried everything in my power to keep my skin as dry as possible only to find that my condition became worse and worse. Not only did my acne break outs increase, but I had red, scaly and chronically dry skin. Only after I stopped this practice and started moisturizing regularly in a healthy way did I start to see improvements.

Now don't run out to your local drug store and pick up the first moisturizer that you see! Store bought lotions and moisturizing soaps usually incorporate synthetic elements and harmful carcinogens in order to decrease costs and increase shelf life. Unfortunately, in the cosmetic industry ingredients don't need to be disclosed to the consumer. In other words... you have no clue what you're putting on your skin!

So how do you moisturize in a "healthy way"? Simple... By using homemade all natural soaps. You can either make soap yourself, or you can buy handcrafted soaps from a reputable company that is most concerned with producing a quality product and not passing last quarter's sales goal. The important part is that you steer clear of "fake" ingredients and go 100% all natural.

There are a ton of different oils and fats that can be used to make soap, but I believe that castor oil for acne treating soaps is definitely the best because of its ability to moisturize and quickly heal the skin.

In order to make soap out of castor oil you will need to mix it with lye (sodium hydroxide) in order to create a chemical reaction called saponification. During saponification, the oil (acid) reacts with the lye (base) to form a salt (your soap). I bet you never knew that soap was actually a salt!

Never use just castor oil in a soap making recipe as it will produce a soft bar that will become rancid prematurely. I recommend combing the castor oil with a percentage of avocado oil, coconut oil and palm oil to produce an amazing finished product that will withstand the test of time.

Give homemade soaps a try. I don't think you will ever regret it! Getting rid of the "fake stuff" and using only natural ingredients on your skin could be the missing link in your skin care regimen that will make all the difference in the world.

Anti-Aging Skin Care - What is the Best Treatment For Crepey Skin?

It was not until my grandmother reached the age of 62 years when she started asking what the treatment for "crepey" skin is.

What is crepey skin?

Skin Care Secret

Crepey skin is an ugly consequence of aging. People of more advanced age are prone to developing this condition. It is largely because of the natural aging process. This does not mean, however, that you cannot do anything to minimize or prevent crepey skin from developing later. Let us find out how this develops first.

Our skin is an amazing natural production line. It is the largest organ in the body and it serves as our first line of defense. It is constantly exposed to varying environmental factors, substances and organisms every single day.

In order to perform its functions well, the skin layer contains different mechanisms and rejuvenating processes to help heal and renew itself. This is aimed at maintaining optimal performance.

The skin contains collagen bundles, which are combination of collagen and elastin molecules. Collagen and elastin are naturally produced protein types responsible in providing strength and elasticity of the skin surface. Our skin alone can produce and replenish its own collagen and elastin mass.

As we advance in age, however, the body can no longer optimally regenerate to replace these dying and damaged proteins. This consequently leads to the gradual reduction in collagen bundle content beneath the skin layers. When this happens, the skin surface starts to sag, becomes loose and eventually develops what we called "crepey" skin texture.

Crepey skin is a loose fold and wrinkle found usually below our neck, arms and sometimes in our legs. It can also be found in many other parts of the body mostly exposed particularly to the sun.

As I had mentioned earlier, crepey skin is caused by the substantial loses in the collagen bundle content beneath your skin. In addition, since our body alone can replenish its own supply of collagen and elastin, all we need to do is to help our body attain maximal regeneration performance.

Dermal fillers, laser surgery and a lot other procedures, even if not very invasive, do not provide a lasting treatment for such problematic skin conditions. Most of them require repeated sessions, which make them more expensive. Truth to tell, there are various skin care products available in the market that help you regain firm and smooth skin.

Look out for these natural substances

These products are actually made of natural essential substance. You probably have heard a lot about Cynergy TK and Hyaluronic acid and their effectiveness.

Cynergy TK is a vitamin-like substance taken from the wool of the specific breed of sheep raised in New Zealand. This substance is known to help the body boost collagen production.

Hyaluronic acid acts as glue that binds together collagen and elastin molecules. It is richly found in Phytessence Wakame, exotic kelp found only in Japan Sea. Wakame is also rich in anti-oxidants and other essential micronutrients that help the skin rejuvenate itself. Many tests had been conducted showing Phytessence Wakame as an effective treatment to crepey skin.

Treating crepey skin is not difficult as long as you understand how it develops. Try using products containing these natural substances. You will surely find your skin getting smoother and more great looking too!

Anti-Aging Skin Care - What is the Best Treatment For Crepey Skin?

About this Author

And to help you get clearer and younger looking skin, I will like to share with you one anti aging skin care range that I found contains more active ingredients than any other cream on the market. These ingredients are effective moisturizers, because they penetrate deeply and "nourish". So, they never feel greasy.

I have never seen any other natural products that is as good and report no negative or adverse effects. They are hypo-allergenic, fragrance free and can be used on any skin-type. If you want to learn what secret products I use, come visit http://www.goodhealthyskin.com to find out more.

Top Secret Wrinkle Free Skin Tips

I am fed up with all the lies about skincare products.

In this article I am going to share my secret wrinkle free skin tips.

Skin Care Secret

Many of the skincare companies have taken some of the common facts about our skin aging and used that information to sell the consumers snake oil in a bottle.

Let me explain, our bodies produce two proteins called collagen and elastin. These proteins are responsible for keeping our skin tight, retain moisture, elastic and overall keep our skin looking great.

Unfortunately as we age our bodies produce less and less collagen and elastin.

So the skincare companies have taken a basic principle that seems logical, if you need something, in this case collagen and elastin, then put that in the anti wrinkle skin cream.

The simple fact is any products that contain collagen and elastin are worthless. The simple process of adding collagen and elastin to any products renders the product useless.

Collagen from a molecular structure is just to big to be absorbed by our skin. In fact, even if the collagen could penetrate the skin the complexity is such that our body can't replicate the bodies.

Please don't take my word on this, if you talk to any dermatologist or visit any respectable medical website, you'll find the same information I am sharing with you right here.

Now all of this doesn't mean there is no way of fighting wrinkles, in fact you can be wrinkle free in 60 days or less by following a few of these wrinkle free skin tips.

One is to find natural substances that actually stimulate the bodies own production of collagen and elastin. Yes, clinical studies have shown that you can actually help stimulate the body to produce it's own supply of collagen and elastin.

During my research I found, through the miracles of the internet, a company in New Zealand, that produces a natural substance call Cynergy TK. Cynergy TK has been clinically tested with human volunteers to help stimulate the bodies own production of collagen and elastin.

In fact, besides getting the body to produce it's own collagen and elastin, they had seen a 160% increase in the skin's elasticity in just 18 days. Not to mention increased moisture retention(say goodbye to dry skin) and new skin cell rejuvenation!

There are a number of other natural substances that I have identified that have proven properties to slow down and in some cases actual reverse the formation of wrinkles.

Following these wrinkle free skin tips will have you wrinkle free in 60 days or less and looking as great on the outside as you feel on the inside.

You next step is to find more of these natural substances and look more into Cynergy TK which has now been made available here in the United States and Canada for the first time, visit the website below for the product I personally use every day.

8 Secrets on How to Remove Acne Scars

There are several ways on removing acne scars. The appearance of acne starts during puberty when the body actively produces hormones that causes too much sebum in the skin. This skin stage may pass but it would definitely leave marks to haunt your appearance forever. Treating acne scars can be done through natural inexpensive ways and dermatological procedures that would probably cost a lot. However, acne scar treatment still depends on the mildness and severity of the scar.

Below are some of the techniques on removing acne scars naturally:

Skin Care Secret

1. Hydration is the key. It has been proven that water is one of the best natural methods to remove acne scars and prevent acne breakouts. Drinking at least 8 glasses of water or more helps your skin to shed those unwanted dead skin cells.

2. A lot of people are recommending the use Vitamin E capsule for those scars. You might apply it topically to the affected area by pricking a spot in the capsule and apply the oil to the scar. Another option is to take it orally to have that cell renewal from the inside.

3. Rosehip seed oil is also an effective remedy on removing acne scars. This is an anti-ageing and anti-wrinkling agent that helps the skin to regenerate. Massage it on the scar twice a day.

4. Eating a balance diet may help in removing acne scars. The more nutritious foods you include in your meal, the faster the scar will heal. It helps in building the skin cells and gives a healthy skin glow as well.

5. Combine rose water and paste of sandal wood and apply it on the spot where the scars are. Leave it overnight then rinse with cold water the next day.

Aside from the natural ways of removing acne scars, there are also dermatological procedures that would definitely give you a much faster result. However, pregnancy and other health conditions may hinder your want to undergo these procedures. Here are some of the hi-tech methods can remove acne scars effectively.

6. Nowadays, not only certified dermatologists do a dermabrasion but facial salons as well. Dermabrasion is the removal of the top skin layer using a machine that chafes off the skin. Once the skin heals, the top layer will then have a smoother and clearer appearance.

7. Laser resurfacing is one of the most affordable anti-scar treatments available. It simply uses a high-energy light that would remove the fine scars and even prevent wrinkles.

8. You may also have a chemical peel procedure. This is just like dermabrasion. The only difference is that the top layer of the skin is peeled off using chemicals not machines. This is not a very advisable procedure for all since some people may have allergic reactions to the chemicals.

With all the available choices for treatment, you surely would not have an excuse as to why your acne scar is still obvious. It's your choice whether you would opt for the natural way or the dermatological procedure on how to remove acne scars.
